St. Laurence Church: Rolling With Jesus

Thesis: People have different pride of place. Of all the places there are in Houston, the Saint Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land is what catches my pride of place. I come to have a special moment with God. The way the church looks, the word of the Lord that is preached, and the family feel of the chapel is all in one at this chapel. It is one of the greatest Catholic churches that I have ever been to.
Body Paragraph: First off, the church is so beautiful inside and out. The outside of the church there are big glass windows, and many pillars in the front of the church. The structure of the chapel ceiling looks like a mansion tree house. The gospel made into art as the stained glass windows. The Alter has a white bricked wall with an alter table at the center. There is a big, admiring cross hanging at the center of the Alter. There are many sections of pews around the church where people sit to be with God. At the entry of the church inside, there is a structure shaped into a cross with holy water falling down into it like a waterfall. When you dip your hands into it, you feel the cold, gentle water. You can smell the burning of the incense when you enter the chapel. You don't have to only attend mass, but you can also come into this chapel to just have one-on-one time with the Lord.

  1. great descriptions, i can totally imagine the church with what you just said. nice thesis as well, but there is some repetition with chapel that throws me off. overall, this looks great!

  3. Great job on describing the church. I felt as I was in the actual church when I was reading your essay. You made sure the reader knew exactly what u saw when you walked into the church, which is great. You also did a very good job of expressing some of our five senses. You talked about the touch of the cool water which helped me imagine how refreshing the water must feel. Overall you are doing a good job on ur essay so far.
