Thesis:
I've been in Houston for only six-weeks, but I became aware of the Frenchy's frenzy prior to my arrival. If you ever heard anyone speak of Frenchy's you'd probably wonder "What's all the madness about?" Considering that most people take special interest in appearance and time-management I couldn'y figure out why people were so fond of this establishment. On one hand they lack those two qualities on the other hand, the authentic Creole taste you experience while eating their food can ease your mind of all negativity.
Body:
Houstonians have grown accustomed to the extreme conditions they face while purchasing food from Frenchy's. Who would have ever thought that a trip to the infamous chicken shack could turn into an unforgettable adventure? Your journey starts off like World War II as cars fight viciously to enter the parking lot. Several cars sit in the overrated drive-thru as if they are on I-45 during rush hour; each one following the other anxious to get to their destination. The inside of this "fine" establishment or should I say the "outside" is like a nose stuffed with nasal mucus; each register has an overwhelming line and the dining tables are all full. On the contrary, the hot humid air and the long wait is worth being able to enjoy the mouth watering ling lasting Creole taste that makes Frenchy's so popular today.

Frenchy's is a pretty potent place to eat. I like how you said extreme conditions talking about the cluster of people. I also like some of your metaphors.
ReplyDeleteThe simile of World War II paints the image of Frenchy's that I have experienced. You capture the craziness of the parking lot. It's hilarious how you put "fine" and "outside" in parenthesis, because it is defiantly true. I think the paragraph truly embodies what Frenchy's is.
ReplyDeleteI really like all the sensory details you have, you paint the whole picture for the reader. It makes me feel like I'm there waiting in line for my food. I ate at Frenchy's for the first time this weekend and I agree that their food is worth the hassle.
ReplyDeleteI like her use of figurative language comparing the parking lot to world war 2 and if you have ever been to frenchy's you know exactly what she means.I am one of those people that also wonders what all the hype is about frenchy's because i dont like it. This paper is so realistic and tells the truth about those frenchy's lines and appearance.
ReplyDeleteI like how you used figurative language to explain how crowded the establishment is. Your entry was interesting to me because I wondered why everyone loved Frenchy's so much as well, but by the ways you explained it, this place seems like one I'd like to experience myself. The use of vision in your figurative language really helped me imagine what the place actually looks like.
ReplyDeleteI really like you comparisons you use in the body paragraph. Your comparison of WWII to a parking lot really shows how hecktic it can get. Same with the I 10 comparison to the drive thro. This really shows how packed it can get, as well as the anticapation they suffer as they wait for their food.
ReplyDeleteThe similie you use to describe what people go through to get their food is great. I've never been to Frenchy's and i have to admit i do want to go try it out. You also used sensory details which made the paper even better.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of Frenchy's before I came to UH and your thesis explains exactly how I felt before and after I had the delcious food they produced. You wouldn't imagine that Frenchy's could produce such good food with the outside apparence which you explained throughly in your body paragraph. Your great figurative language was great from beginning to end of your body from the taste to the waiting in line for food.
